Meet the Maker with Helen Bullock

Our second workshop in our Meet the Maker series was with textile designer and fashion illustrator Helen Bullock. Her signature expressive and painterly illustrative style has earned her collaborations with everyone from Anthropologie to Louis Vuitton. 

The workshop allowed participants to experiment with a more painterly and organic approach to screen printing within a fashion illustration context. After an introduction into Helen’s practice and the process, participants worked with a model on a series of life drawing exercises designed to help challenge the way you perceive and communicate the human form.

After selecting their favourite sketch they then translated this into a final drawing onto drafting film which acted as a positive for their screen prints.

After exposing their design workshopers developed their drawings further by painting directly onto the screen to create a series of 4 original monoprint versions of their artwork which they could take home.
